Coping Grout repair advice

I need to patch/fill in some missing grout below the coping. What’s the best product for that? A few years ago I used the tub of powder that you mix with a resin and turn into a paste that you rub in and it seemed to work well.

I’ve also seen tubes of caulk-like repair kits and was wondering if that is a better/easier fix than the paste would be?

Thanks!

On a concrete gunite pool its most likely not grout under the coping - it's mortar from setting the coping stones.

To repair you first need to remove the loose or broken material. If there is a lot you can float a tarp on the water and use a screwdriver or chisel to break out the material.

Then you need to re-point or pack in mortar into the joint. I use Sand Mix concrete with an admix to help the new stick to the old. There are special mason spades you can get
at home stores that are used to help push and smooth the material into the recess.

Mix the concrete so its kinda dry like cookie dough and not wet or muddy.

Be patient.

You can clean the area with a wet rag or sponge.

Is there a lot of area or just a few places? Any pictures would help too.

Pretty common problem and repair for any pool that gets freeze thaw.
