Howdy folks of the Forum. I’ve been lurking here for some time and learning. Got fed up with my high CYA (165ppm) and found this resource. I waited too long here and too late to drain and refill some water to lower CYA (too hot to expose the plaster). So I paid $1,000 to recycle half my water using reverse osmosis. Took 12 hours but it works; lowered CYA down to 70ppm and TDS by about half. CYA is still not where I want it but it is workable. Just vowed to chlorinate without adding CYA so doing the advice here, balanced the pool, added borates to 50ppm, and using liquid chlorine. So far, the results are great thanks to you good folks here. I have some questions and concerns but will post those in the appropiate locations shortly.
