I have added Salt and now I am between 3,000 and 3,200 ppm (I get the pinkish color with 3,000 and the brick color at 3,200). My FC is at 18 and CC is at <.5. I have not done the OCLT yet but plan to do it tonight. The pool is crystal clear.
If the OCLT is good then I plan to let the FC drop to 3-4 ppm and start up the Salt Water Generator.
Reading the book for my Hayward AquaTrol it states to prepare the pool water. In that it says if it is not new water then add 1 quart of metal remover and 1 quart of non-copper based algaecide to the pool. The chart says metals needs to be 0 ppm. My two questions are...
1. Do I need to worry about testing the water for metals or should I just add a quart of metal remover to the water to be on the safe side? If I need to test what test kit should I use?
2. Do I need to add a quart of non-copper based algaecide to the pool? I figured that since I did the SLAM this might not be necessary?
Anything else I should know or do before I fire this thing up?
