Converting to chlorine from PermaSalt

First one is filled half way to 100 from bottom of container. Filling to each next line and taking photo with number. Back to sun at waist level.
I would call it 60 (dot somewhat visible at 60, but not visible in the pic (to me) at 50). 👍

Btw, with regards to CC, keep in mind that while elevated CC indicates a problem, the opposite isn’t true, ie low/no CC by itself doesn’t mean there is no problem.

Is this last log telling me to dose again in 5 hours at 155 ounces?
I’m not sure if I’m following it.
I also put in twice new numbers and hit the check mark to save. Even had someone watch me.
Then I can on the forum and followed my own link and it was showing previous tests results.
Is this acting this way because to do multiple tests logs you have to purchase a paid version?

No. The servers are in GMT, so it shows as an offset from that time. Ignore it.

Yes. I think it is $7.99 per YEAR. Cheap.

Your CYA is 50 or 60.

You dont need to post the logs here, we can see the latest one automatically. But i guess if you can only save one, that make sense to post.

Sounds like a pass to me!
Now, as you let fc fall, aim to keep it at high target for your cya level or a scootch above
FC/CYA Levels
This will ensure that even with daily losses you don’t ever fall below minimum for your cya.
No playing kissy face 😘 with minimum & you’ll never need to slam again.
In your location in the peak of summer you can expect somewhere around a 4ppm daily fc loss. So plan for that. If having a pool party it could be higher. Always bump up fc in advance.

Earlier in the thread you mentioned salt in poolmath.
I presume it’s because in your settings you told it you had a salt pool or are tracking salt. Be sure it is set to liquid chlorine as your sanitizer so it shows the appropriate fc ranges.
When fc falls to 10ppm or below you may then test & adjust ph, not before. The ph test is skewed by fc levels above 10ppm.

Well the Permasalt begins with a 25lb bag of salt to give the new water some TDS. I think that system with its eroding copper rods is a hybrid type of system. Copper was to be .3-.5 ppm they say. I don’t have a salt test and have never been salt per se, but the Pool Math web page was populating salt at 1000.
I wasn’t sure if I needed to zero that field out or just leave it at 1000 current and 1000 target.

A SWCG is now high on my list.

Is there a test that can read up to 10pm FC thats not a fas-dpd test?
Seems I still need to test daily at least in the morning before work to make sure I’m up to level on FC.

In the app just turn off salt tracking & it won’t even show anymore.
Nothing you can do with the webpage but just ignore it.
The fas/dpd is the one to use for fc over 5ppm
Order refills before you run out. I have a 26k gal pool & a hot tub & i usually only go through a 2oz bottle of the r0871 & a tub of the powder per season or so. Depending upon what i need I may just buy the dpd powder or sometimes the whole fas/dpd kit if I need a new cylinder etc.
tftestkits has a refill sale every march so that’s a good time to replenish your whole kit if you need other refills too.

As for a swcg - you want one rated for at least 2x’s your pool’s volume. So at least a 30k rated system. A 40k or bigger is fine too. Bigger is better - especially in texas with your long seasons. The bigger the cell the less you will need to run it to produce the fc you need daily thus the longer it will live in people years.
Cells have a finite life span. Usually 8-10k hours @100% so if you only need to run it @ 50% that would mean 16-20k hrs of life etc. & so on.
You have a 2 speed pump so you can run at low speed around the clock and be making chlorine all the time for little coin.
Here’s a good comparison chart that shows outputs, warranties etc. since they are not apples to apples across the board as far as gallon ratings go.
(turn sideways if on mobile device)
