In the 2 years of owning this pool, last week was the first time the water was not perfect, and I had issues with algae in corners. Most of this was contributed to hurricane Beryl (no power for a week and too much rain), but also due to CYA being well over 100ppm. I'm not a fan of pumping up the chorine level just to add more CYA into the pool and worsen the problem, so did a 50% drain and it's back to crystal clear water again. Currently only using 12.5% liquid chlorine as I was only using Trichlor.

All that being said, I'm looking to convert the pool over to salt water, and after looking into it, it sounds like it's an easy DIY job. The SWG I'm interested in is the CircuPool CORE-35 (LINK) which I have read on here that CircuPool is one of the better supported ones. Is there a better option? Planning to remove the puck feeder and add in the SWG but had a question on wiring. Currently using the Aqualink iQPUMP01 (hate it) for my Jandy VS, so is there a way to tie the power of the SWG into the same source? This way, the SWG would only have power when the pump is running.

Separately, I would like to eventually be fully automated, so would a new controller be able to be used with CircuPool and the existing system? *See Signature for equipment and images attached.

c,

Jandy sells a SWCG that has the same form-factor as what you have.. Just don't add the mineral cartridge..

Your VS pump should be getting constant AC power, so you can't power the SWCG from the same source.

I know squat about Jandy, so let's hope one of our Jandy owners stops by..

Thanks,

Jim R.

The reviews on the Jandy SWCG are not the best from everywhere I was looking. If a separate timer is needed until I feel like dropping cash to replace the pump and main controller, I would be ok with that. Absolutely hate the Aqualink since I have to reset the connection every time I want to change automation, so it'll eventually be gone.

That's what I did, cut out the trichlor unit and put in a Hayward unit and flow meter. The Hayward control unit I had already supported SWG so I just hooked the cables to it and changed the config. It was pretty easy. I even had enough PVC left over to make a stub to replace the SWG in the winter when it may run to filter and also for freeze protection.
