2 part question: In starting up this year, after an acid wash, I can't get my IC-40 beyond the flashing red and green at the top of the unit. My salt started out > 4000 PPM, but I've gotten it down to 3750. Flow is good. They say flashing green (by itself?) is high salt. And that Green-red-green-red, etc. is trying to calibrate the salt level. And about every 3 minutes, the unit shuts off, then comes back on ( reboots?). This unit and this install has worked fine in the past. The unit has two seasons on it. So, Q1 - what's going on? And Q2, is the generator nevertheless generating chlorine in this flashing condition? Every single time you power up the cell, it will do the flashing red/green dance, while it tests the salt level. It will also do it every 12 hours after that.
If it can't test the salt, it will never work at all..
Is the flow light green, or do you just think you have good flow?
I suspect one of the following...
You put the cell in backwards
The flow switch is bad or broken.
You have less flow than you think.
You have a bad cell..

Thanks everyone. The install is exactly as it has been over the years, with the flow arrow going in the right direction. Yes flow light is green, and I can actually test that with my variable speed black and decker pump. There is no green cell light, though, and I suspect that's because until the flashing stops, the chlorinator hasn't decided it can run. And therein is the problem, I think. It just keeps flashing because it can't decide on the salt level. Yes, usually the flashing would end in a minute or so. But now continues for 3+ minutes, after which the unit self- re-boots. I guess therefore I have a bad cell, or could it be something in the power center (where's the brain?). It's weird, because everything was working fine when I winterized, and all I'm doing is re-starting another year. One last question, I guess. if there is one of the four connectors somehow not properly connecting, will it still power on, but not work right? ...thanks, over... Eric
