Continuation of an odyssey

So one guy was here from about 6 AM to 1:30 PM today and really all he did was move about 4 tons of pavers to the back yard by hand. Somehow the PB did not remember that we had narrow side walls, so it apparently was cheaper to have one of his guys move everything than rent a small fork lift. This puts us about another three days behind. (Who's counting?) Oddly enough there is still one pallet left of pavers in the front yard. Must have gotten all of his hours in for the day, eh?

One thing I didn't mention is they didn't do very much of the mortaring of the coping. I was really hoping that they would have finished that today for the three day weekend but they didn't. If the dogs knock one into the pool they will have to deal with it.. IMG_20190830_172552942_HDR.jpgIMG_20190830_172556864.jpg

Probably me. But guess what? They came today, yes, Saturday from 6 AM and worked until 2:15 PM. They changed the design a little because it seems the placement of the pool is not quite where it is in the drawings because of the little bit of work they had to do to fix the drainage. It's the case where it doesn't look as nice as the plans but it is probably more useful, so I think it will be okay.

They will be back on Monday, too.. So... I might order the test kit on Tuesday...

It's really amazing how much they can get done in one day when they are actually here.. IMG_20190831_142524481_HDR.jpgIMG_20190831_142653381_HDR.jpgIMG_20190831_142549575_HDR.jpgIMG_20190831_142509903_HDR.jpg

WHAT?? SWEET!! SO glad they showed up AND worked!!!

How wide is it in those two narrow spots?

I am hoping they have an "artist with a big saw" to do the small pieces by the coping and the on the outside. Those will be the make or break of the overall look.

The decking is a minimum of 3' and yeah they do know what they are doing but we still are in contact with the foreman because if any of it ends up being square they will redo it .. The curves are supposed to follow the curves on the pool. We will see...

Yeah there are supposed to have those steps... It's part of the plan. We though they might have been changing it a bit due to the placement of the pool but I suspect the foreman told them to stick the plan. I posted it I think in the Introduction thread. I will go and look for it. Okay.. The computer drawings and the plan again from page two of this thread. FB_IMG_1560121076801.jpgredacted pool construction plan.gif

Well, they are doing coping around those cut pieces so that could be why they are doing it that way. Trust me, I was confused by that too, but they can lay down that pattern really fast. As for back filling with gravel, that will be our problem, as will the landscaping. This is part of the reason why it would be nice to get it done, so I can do some of that this fall.. There is a practical end to a fall planting season even here.IMG_20190902_131137530_HDR.jpg

I feel like I have been this way before. IMG_20190902_150051908.jpgIMG_20190902_150035600.jpgIMG_20190902_145946051.jpg

All from one rain storm. When it does rain in the desert, it freaking rains. The last three storms overran my tipping bucket gauge so I can't even say for sure what we got. I am going to get an official NOAA "Stratus" gauge after the pool is done.IMG_20190902_150025769.jpg..

Here are a couple of other pictures of what they did today. As far as I can tell, them cutting out the pieces afterwards is to have a perfect pattern throughout. They are claiming three more half days of work. Lots labor there...

I was wondering why they built out the pavers so far from the cut line, and it appears they figured all those little pieces would come in handy filling in the areas near the coping. Still, seems odd that so much was placed in the pattern that didn't get cut at all. Maybe it was to give it stability while cutting?

Those three sunken bricks are kinda confusing.

Kind of confusing for sure. BUT like my husband always says.........don't judge a piece of art (work) until the artist is done so we will wait and see what the end result is..............that is except the sunken pieces????? WHAT?
