Construction finally started in Jacksonville FL!

Think your plan is a wise one. You need to have some sort of limit set. Hopefully your dig will go ahead in time and it will be smooth sailing from then. We are still delayed here. Waiting on tiler who can’t work when it’s wet. He has one more job to finish before he gets over to us. It has done nothing but rain for almost 2 months and we are now about four weeks delayed and 8 weeks since our shell went in. Summer has long gone here and I’m starting to get pretty fed up with the whole build. I guess there’s nothing that can be done really.

Aw that is unfortunate. I feel like it's always hurry up and wait. I am understanding when it comes to time lines but when they told me one thing and are doing another... by being off by 2 months, that is a litte frustrating. I hope your pool gets finished soon!

Good job staying firm Pagiez! Mind sharing who the PB is? If you don't feel comfortable public - let me know private.

I PM'd you

A month or so ago I couldn’t stop changinbrg my mind but now I wouldn’t dare as a change order would set us way back! The sub contractors said they are so busy they are working every single day. 3 jobs ahead of mine he said, not sure if that means to finish or what but I am happy with our layout, just a basic rectangle with a large sunshelf!

Well, we are stuck at a standstill again. No one has been back for over a week since the layout was finished. I am starting to get so discouraged. If this is how it's going to be in between each phase. We are staying on the PB who basically cannot give us an answer as to why the Sub Contractor for the layout, dig, rebar and gunite is so unreliable. He says he has called and emailed multiple times. Maybe I am just being unreasonable but I just think it is unacceptable at this point. We started this process the beginning of January. My biggest fear currently is they come dig and wait weeks for the rebar and gunite, we live in FL and get quite a bit of rain. That giant hole will turn into a caved in mud pit quick. Any advice?

I don’t have any advice [emoji17] I just wanted to say how disappointed I am for you. Have they given any explanation? Been in contact? If not, you might be better off pulling out. Honestly, I’m not sure what I would do in your situation. You have invested a lot of time and thought getting to this point. It is easier said than done to just pull out, when you are committed. This could well be how things continue, or they could end up getting stuck in and getting through it within the contracted timeframe. It is gamble really, though they certainly wouldn’t fill me with confidence. I can’t imagine how stressed you must feel right now [emoji53]

So, my husband and I discussed pulling out with the PB after this section is finished. I assume since the Subs have already been paid it would be too difficult to try and recoup our first deposit less, the work they have done. I don't know how another pool company would feel coming in to finish, esp with permits already being pulled ect. Our PB seems just as frustrated with this Sub company as well and has promised as soon as they have the shell in the ground he can get the rest finished in 3-4 week with his staff. After our last come to Jesus meeting 3 weeks ago the Sub's said they would have the shell in the ground by April 13th barring any major weather. Well here we are today at April 16th and they haven't even dug the pool. So incredibly frustrating and I feel stuck.

That does change my opinion. I guess if you need to finish this section (I’m assuming you mean the dig) before you can cut ties, but if this section is the only problem child, then to me there’s no point pulling out after the dig is done and everything else is good to go. The fact that your pb is also frustrated is a good thing. Are you able to call the subs yourself? If I had the number, I would be calling each day inquiring on your dig date. So frustrating for you watching your end date come and go. I bet your pb will look after you once this part is over if you stick with him. I think whatever decision you make will be completely justified.

Yes, I try to call, and they either don't answer or they say they can't talk to me because the PB is the customer not myself. Which really infuriates me, but then when the PB calls and leaves a message they never return his call, and he is busier than me during the day so I know he can't call every few hours to get someone on the phone but when I do get someone on the line and they won't talk to me it makes me want to blow a gasket.

Thanks! I hate having to stay on folks to make them do what they say they will. The PB seems to make us think that he will be on our job like white on rice once the shell is in the ground. He said we could have pool finished in about 4 weeks. Here's hoping!!
