I recently moved to a different part of Phoenix and looking into the possibility of a DIY approach using contractors. I had a major pool company build a pool at a previous location in a different part of Phoenix. While working with a landscaper after it was completed, I was told that I was basically ripped off. so Im wanting to learn from that and try to cover all bases or options at this point so that I could get more bang for my buck.

Some food for thought:

What is your out of the house work situation? You will have to be there quite often AND be able to get there if one of the trades decides to show up.

A Owner Build (OB) you can save some money but what we see the most is they get a better pool for the same amount of money they would have spent on a Pool Builder (PB) for a smaller pool with less features.

Spouse 1: We SAVED $20k. !!!!!
Spouse 2: Now we can afford EVEN more !!!

the do get a lot more. But the savings rarely happen Like Kim said.
