Installed the Compool to EasyTouch upgrade in 2017 and everything worked well all this time. Now, while working out how to connect a new Black+Decker 2HP pump it seems to be failing.

If I understand correctly, the pump output on the board is 24V DC when on and 0V DC when off energizing and de-energizing the attached relay as the Filter Pump button is toggled.

Well, the pump output puts out 24V DC all the time now, no matter whether the Filter Pump button is lit or off.

I did an EEPROM reset. No change. Powered down the whole system and removed the coin battery memory backup. Complete factory reset, but no change in the 24V output on Pump.

I moved the relay to Aux 4 and it toggles on and off there which at least works well enough to power the pump on and off for now.

Am I missing anything or confused about how it should be working? Setting I am missing? Is the board failing?

Drew,

The relay is controlled by a driver IC chip. It sounds like it has gone bad.

Look at the main board and see if you can see two chips that are in sockets and not soldered to the board. If so, you can replace the chips.

Since you have an upgrade board it may not be the same. Take some pics of the board and show up what it looks like.

I suspect it uses the same chips as the EasyTouch, but I do not know that for sure.

Thanks,

Jim R.

oh no, it looks like these compool upgrade boards have the drivers soldered to the board vs in sockets (at the least the current ones i'm finding online)

but hey, at least the comm chip isn't under the display!!

Got it. I figured something like this was the case, but didn't want to assume. I will check my board and see if they are soldered on.

Anyone around here that has experience with replacing chips like this? Willing to pay, of course. If not, I have some ancient experience in doing this with a hot air station and may give it a shot.
