Hi there! My name is Kendall and I was recently just hired as a Head Pool Manager at a private swim club. The club manager and I looked at some things around our facility and noticed that the diving board was damaged.

I don't know what kind of diving board is installed, but I believe it is an aluminum board with a fiberglass surface coating. We spoke to our pool servicing company and they quoted us around $7,000 for a new board including installation. My manager and I feel as if that is extremely expensive for a 14-foot diving board, but we are also highly uneducated on the subject. There is a label/sticker on the underside of the board that says "SR Smith LLC," but other than that, I'm clueless/

Is there a way to repair the surface of the board or will the entire thing need to be replaced? If I had to guess, the current board is at least 12 years old.

I suggest you contact SR Smith for advice on the restoration of your existing board.

If this is a pool used by the public to any degree I wouldn't even think of trying to repair this. The exposure to the general public is just too risky. A brand new board -installed by professionals- is the way to go.

By the way, I am an Insurance Underwriter by profession. I am a Certified Pool and Spa Maintenance Specialist and have been insuring pool and spa contractors for years so I sort of have SOME experience in the field...only about 25years...LOL. I've seen way too many bad things happen when short cuts are taken...

Looks like an SR Smith Frontier III 14" Commercial board. They run $3000-$5000, depending on where you get them. They are usually a simple 2 bolt attachment. Call Sr Smith to confirm. Shouldn't cost $2000-$4000 to install!
