Combined Chloramines

Sadly I lost more ground overnight

dropped from 13 at 9pm to 7 (0500)
CC .5

We did get a pretty good rainstorm which bumped my water level to top of skimmer

I did add the additional cya yesterday since I could still see the black dot when filled to top

I have someone stopping or who should be able add twice for me todat

and I have a short day and should be home by 3

have to figure out a game plan for wed and thur afraid I’m gonna lose a ton of ground again

The algae is still there :) That's okay! Great, do you know how much chlorine you'll have them add?

If you can check your CYA @ 3pm (with back to sun, viewing tube at waist level, glance across the tube (not staring into it) ;) )

Also have you removed any inlets/returns, lights, and cleaning under the seams that could be hiding algae? And brushing everyday (it's light brushing, not concrete scrubbing ;) ) to breakup the protective cover algae has :) you'll get there! Especially with clear water!

Scrubbed my skimmer basket by hand and the eyeball

i cleaned my filter housing, pump basket and chlorinator before putting away for the winter. I’ve been brushing and vac’ing pool. Only thing I can’t actually clean inside of is the solar panels and hose tubing. There’s a new cartridge in as well.

Had her add a cumulative total of 2/3 of a bottle of 12.5%.

Friday I plan on going in pool with my brush to get more leverage since someone said it’s safe to be in while slamming

Should I be shocking to a higher level than 12?

So don’t stare directly down at black dot ?

1524

Stopped for 2 more cases of shock

FC 10 (that’s with me adding 2/3 of a bottle at 5 am and friend adding 2/3 in two divided doses - last dose 1130 maybe)
CC .5

quick glance (which is hard to accompish because I’m looking where I’m dripping, which kind of turns to a stare) cya 20 (can still see black dot on a longer look, pretty hazy) for sure pretty much gone around 25

gonna treat at a slam level of 12 for now unless you folks advise otherwise

prob check again at 530

Thanks everyone for all your support and feedback

Great update! Hang in there, the last part of SLAM Process requires the most P.O.P. :bounce: (pool owner patience), passing the Overnight Chlorine Loss Test with no CC's present and crystal water is so exciting when it happens though!

So I lost crazy ground today
FC 4 (only had 2 additions today) & with it being super sunny it prob burned a lot off?
CC .5 (darker shade of pink than this morning but still gone with 1 drop)

added a gallon of 12.5%

Splashpad,

no swimmers

pump has been running 24/7

little bit of pollen / tiny flower pedal debris on top of water

did a full test just now (even though I’ve read pH wasn’t accurate)

pH 8.2
Ch 475
FC 9
CC .5 or less
alk 150
cya between 25 and 30 depending on how particular you want to be about black dot

I will be in it today more as a floating event than anything else, the water is freezing

also still aerating

Before you add more chlorine, use [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA] to dose muriatic acid (with pump running) to drop your pH to 7.4
At high pH chlorine is much less effective, retest in 30min to verify pH has dropped and resume adding chlorine
