I'm looking to install a new 15' round above ground pool. I live near Chicago so we obviously deal with cold and freezing weather for parts of the year.

I was originally quoted about $3000 for the Embassy Pools Coffee Creek deluxe pool kit with 20 year prorated warranty. Just have a brochure so no links to an online URL.

I'm wanting to use a SWCG as well which they don't seem to have salt friendly pools in stock. They quoted me $3899 for the deluxe pool kit of an Embassy Pools Silver Interlude Premium Salt Friendly Pool. So $900 more for just the pool (equipment, liner, etc. is the same)

Obviously, the difference appears to be the resin verticals and resin bottom rail. And this one has a 100% non-prorated warranty on the resin parts and bottom rail w/ 60 year prorated on wall and frame.

The pool company stated they prefer galvanized steel bottom tracks in this area due to freezing and thawing. (shifting or heaving of the earth) I've seen people in the forum state they don't have any problems with their resin pools in cold climates. Should I be concerned with the resin bottom rail?

Again, I'm really wanting to use a SWCG (looking at the CircuPool Edge 25) to simplify my life. Spent a few years with an Intex pool using liquid chlorine and hated manually adding it, skin feel, worrying about levels when we'd go out of town for a few days, etc. Also the pool store was trying to sway me on the TripleO oxygen type system over SWCG which again from these forums seems to be ludicrous. Still would assume I'd be using liquid chlorine, etc.

Anyway, any advice would be nice to hear from those who know pools better than me.

Welcome to TFP.

Get the resin pool and the Circupool SWG.

Look at the saltwater aurora and any others that have resin walls to match the rest of it.

Also the pool store was trying to sway me on the TripleO oxygen type system
It adds nothing to fight the UV loss from the sun. Remember how it was with the intex ? It'll be exactly like that. The sun will burn off up to 4 FC a day that needs to be replaced.

No device lowers the UV demand from the sun, no matter what any of them want to say about it. 'Use less chlorine' = get more algae. And *then* the device is helpful. Crazy huh ? Don't get algae in the first place is a far better plan.

Now. SWGs. Holy moly they're just the greatest thing since Betty White. (Older than sliced bread). They don't lower UV demand either. But they add FC daily for you.
skin feel
This was not water to TFP spec. I've had both and they felt equally amazing when in range.
