Cloudy water

Cloudy water equals SLAM. The longer you wait, the harder it will be. What all have you read? Thousands of people have tried and succeeded with this method, but if you don't commit fully, it doesn't work. And by commit fully, I mean follow ALL the steps. All that is really needed is a PH of 7.2, a CYA of 30 to 50, and lots of bleach. (And the knowledge found in Pool School, of course!)

I'm regretting getting this pool and spending all this money on it. It cost a lot to buy and install and it's been nothing but problem after problem. We had one or 2 days of crystal clear water, then cloudy water and algae. I'm so done with it.
Anyways, we had algae last week, right after memorial day. We got a ton of rain and then my brother in law was in it and said it felt slimy. Sure enough a day or 2 later, you could see it. :( that Friday, my husband vacuumed the pool, still there but it did pick up some. The next day, we had some electric work done on our home and the guy was s pool guy. My husband said the tests he does every other day, the numbers are all good and the guy said to get the water tested for phosphates. We did and it was low. Leslies said the chlorine was good, at home recreation said it was low. We've had that issue with it being low bc we have the tablets in the floater but started putting a few more tablets in it. That day, my husband scrubbed the pool to get the algae. Sunday night, he shocked it. There is stuff on the floor of the pool. Not sure if it's algae or dirt. Need to get in it to see. But the pool is still cloudy after the shock. My husband says after the shock it may take a few days to clear up. It's Wednesday. Stuff on the bottom of the pool and it's cloudy. It just looks gross. He says we can go in, but I'm not taking my 2 year old daughter in that. It just looks gross. I'm just so fed up and crying bc all my daughter wants to do everyday is go in the pool and she can't :( I'll post pics once i go back out there.

If you had started the SLAM when you first posted this, your daughter would be able to get in the pool today. :(

If you keep waiting it will get worse. There is nothing to buy except bleach and maybe some MA.

Please stop with the worry and hesitation. Start the SLAM today and get that pool clear for your child.

I posted the results I got on Sunday, on Sunday. I just did all the tests again to compare the numbers from then and now, here they are: FC, CC, TC, CYA, CH, TA

To be honest, the pool has pretty much cleared up BIG time since Sunday. Such a huge difference.

I'm just frustrated because I'm trying to do what I can, learn all this stuff, run a business, work, maintain my home, do this pool stuff, etc. I'm trying to do all I can when I can and I can't SLAM the pool, or couldn't at least until yesterday when my CYA went up. Then I get people on here criticizing me b/c I;ve been on here a week and I haven't slamed yet. Or that I don't want to do it so either do it or don't and move on so you can help others. I couldn't do it even if I wanted to. So I don't appreciate people getting snippy with me when I'm doing all I can. I finally got my CYA numbers up yesterday so if I could do it, I would not have been able to until the earliest yesterday. I don't have the material needed at the moment to slam it.

With that being said, it's looks really really clear right now. A little dirt on the floor but that will get vaccuumed up.

I do appreciate everyone that has, and will continue to help this newbie out. I really do. I know I ask a lot of questions and question if what I'm doing is right. Before last week, I couldn't even tell you what type of pool or liner I have, now I know all that plus a TON more.

The OCLT test is on the agenda for tonight :)

pooldv - omg, that green water, yuck! I know we need to get on finding a cover for the pool. That's the one thing I don't want to see when we open the pool next year! I had friends that had pools like that after they opened it. I definately want to make sure when we close ours that we do it right.

Beth, you're getting great advice already. No need to add to it from me. It may all seem overwhelming at times, but with patience and perserverance you will see that water reach a new level of crystal clear you never thought possible. You've been at this for a while, but as long as you continue to push forward we'll be right here to encourage and advise you. Good luck on your OCLT and have a great evening.

Passed the OCLT test! Put the floater back in this morning. Pool is looking very clear! Some dirt on the bottom. Needs to be vacuumed. How often do you all vaccuum or do you do it only when you see dirt? I have friends all over the spectrum. Some daily, 2 times a week, or just once a week.
