My first post! I opened my pool about 3 weeks ago. Changed sand before I started things up as it had been about 3 years and I ended last season with an algae problem and wanted a clean start. Water was clear when I removed cover but became cloudy before I could get everything ready to start it up. Vacuumed pool - without being able to see the bottom - and removed pine needles and debris. Added startup chemicals and ran pump 24/7 for 2 weeks with no clearing. Water is blue but cloudy and I can see dead algae floating. Decided to try floccing. Added Pool Season Liquid Floc - 8 Oz. Did not know to run pump on recirculate so ran 2-3 hours on Filter. Turned pump off and today marks 72 hours of resting water with no change in cloudiness.
1) Did I just ruin my new sand?
2) Since water is still cloudy, I can’t see if anything dropped - now what?
3) I do not use chlorine - I use Baquacil
HELP!!

Welcome to TFP! Sounds like you have a bit of a mess there. We can help, but it will require a few things from you.
1 - We recommend chlorine as opposed to Baquacil. I'll place a link below if you wish to convert.
2 - To manage your pool properly and perform a Baqua conversion, you must have a good teat kit. We recommend either a TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C. Either one is easy and very reliable. Can't stress that enough.
3 - Normally we follow the SLAM Process to remove algae from chlorine pools, but if you follow the Baqua conversion below that should take care of everything in one shot. But you must follow those instructions precisely.

You might also find it advisable to exchange some water in advance to help with the conversion process. Just a thought.
