Cloudy pool

My water is cloudy for the first time. Here are my current test results.

FC 5
CC .5
TA 80
CYA <30
pH 7.6

I did the overnight chlorine test and only lost 1FC.

I will be adding stabilizer next to get my CYA up to at least a 30. Could that be what's making my water cloudy?

Anything else I need to check or do?

does your pool get a lot of sun?

Yes. It’s on the west side of our house and doesn’t get shade until around 7pm.

i live in stillwater. the sun has been very intense on my pool too. if my cya was as low as yours, my chlorine would drop way too low. i suspect that has happened to you and you have something brewing

I thought that might be the case, but was confused when the overnight test didn’t show a bigger drop.

Also my FC hasn’t gotten to zero and I test it each evening.

I think I’m going to raise the CYA level and then retest to see if I need to slam.

i’m not an expert, but it’s really easy to over shoot your cya. i would raise my chlorine up also. you may be doing a short slam, (hopefully)
btw, Atwood’s has 10% pool chlorine pretty cheap?

I usually shoot for the low end for CYA so I don’t get it too high. We have an Atwood’s in Ponca. I don’t think that’s where we get ours, but maybe we should be!
