We' thought we got it under control last week.Used the arm and hammer tablets in the bucket(2 of them) with a thing of bleach(the one they sell in the pool section).Cleared it up the same day. week later and now its cloudy again(was green but not its just a blue cloudyish).almost everything is fine but the total chlronie and stabilizer. The total chrolines was a 5 and the stabilizer was a 0,free cholrine was a 3 \,ph is 7 and ,total alkkanity is 120 stabilizer. Is it ok to get in? what do we do to get rid of the cloudiness?

It was cloudy last week and had it cleared up in a day(used two of those 1 inch tablets with a gallon of the bleach sold in the pool section)..Its been like this since Thursday. This is the first year I have owned a pool.aunt has had one forever and said all she does is get a gallon of bleach and walks around the pool starting at the stairs and just walks around until its empty.Does the same thing for the shock expect starts in deep end.
total hardness is 250
total chroines is 5
fre chrloines is 3
ph is 7.2
total alkalinity is 120
stabilizer is 0 w

You must have organic matter in your water system to have what I think you mean to be combined chlorine of 2.
You need stabilizer to protect the chlorine from dissipating in the sun.
I'm suspecting you're not testing correctly though.
What test kit are using?

The Clorox test strips. The one with the colors on the back.It was on the last one for the hardness it looked like, the 4th one for totoal chlorines, free cholrine was the 3rd,ph looked closer to 3rd one and the total alkanlity was on 3 and the stablier was on the 1st one.I dipped the strip in the deep end of water(than the lower end and got the same results).after I dip in and take out I put it up close to the the bottle and move the strip until it looks the strip matches the color

Megan, welcome to TFP! To help keep you on track, please ensure that you review/bookmark the vital links below in my signature. You will refer to them each season. As for the test strips, they are not reliable. Neither is pool store testing. They may seem convenient, but the testing errors causes you to spend more money in the long run. If you have a larger pool (over 3K gallons) you would do best to obtain one of the recommended test kits - either a TF-100 (link below) or Taylor K-2006C. They cost a little $$ upfront, but will save you a lot of headaches over the season. So proper (home) testing is priority #1.

For cloudiness/algae, you need to "SLAM" (link below). Those instructions work, but again, you need one of the proper test kits. While waiting, you could buy a 5 or 6-Way drop test kit from Walmart for under $10 that will help you for perhaps a few days. But that's just a temporary thing - better than test strips though.

Lastly, don't forget to update your signature with your pool type and equipment. It will help us later as we try to help you. Great to have you with us.

Thanks!Another question. My uncle has a pool (has had it for ever)He said the only thing he ever does is just add the chroline(he said he just buys a gallon of bleach but I've been buying the stuff from the pool section) and shocks it once a week never covers his pool and has never turned green.Doesnt add anything else ever.Than yesterday I had an aunt tell me to not use the liqud bleach/chlorine to use the tablets because those have the stuff to keep the alage away and she doesn't use anything else never covers pool and never adds anything else other than shock.I've added the liquid chroline and and a bag of shock(maybe i'm not adding enough chlorine? I do a gallon it seems like every 5-6 days and change the filter 1 time a week)let it run over night than the next day when I get up shock it.I've added the hth chemicals in order about the same time I've had the green pool issues have started. Is this why ive had problems maybe?
