Cloudy Pool Post-Algae Infilitratio

At the start of the week, after not swimming a few days, we discovered we were at the front end of an algae bloom on the bottom of our pool. At the time I ran my test kit (whichever one you guys recommend on here) and quickly worked to address the situation via SLAM. With my CYA, I had to maintain a shock level of 15 PPM which I did from Thurs evening into Friday morning (did not drop more than 1 PPM overnight). However after changing out filters each day to keep them clean, keeping the bottom cleaned up of any potential algae residue, I am still left with a cloudy pool. I can see the bottom, but it is far from Crystal clear.

This afternoon I just tested everything and my FC was around 8ppm, pH around 7.5, Alkalinity at 80, and CYA of 50. I have been running filter around clock, outside of cleaning the filters. I figured before I try to waste anymore time on this, I'd post this here to get some feedback. You guys were enormously helpful last year slamming the pool and cleaning it up for me. I am a liquid chlorine guy because of all of you.

You didn't follow the SLAM process. Your target FC for SLAM for CYA of 50 is 20FC.

Slam is not over until the pool is clear, you lose 1ppm or less overnight and your CC <=.5.

You stopped slamming before the pool was clear.

I'd get going with the SLAM. Print the instructions out and keep them with you. Really helps! Link-->SLAM Process

I knew something seemed off after reading your reply. My CYA was (and still is) 40 not 50, hence why I had a different SLAM level. Nonetheless I am re-attacking it tonight into tomorrow. Will keep you posted!

Good job restarting the SLAM. Note that most SLAMs take multiple days at the very least and many times take a week or more. Just wanting to make sure you were setting your expectations correctly so you do not try to end a SLAM early again. As you now know, ending a SLAM early is no bueno and can be very frustrating.

Looks like the SLAM has worked once again! Everything cleared up this morning and I brushed up everything again tonight! I am going to do one last chemical check in the morning to confirm we are in the clear.
