Pool has been cloudy blue for weeks. Bought a house with a long-neglected pool about 12,000. I have a Hayward Pro Series Sand Filter with 150lb of sand.

Pool has been blue but cloudy for weeks. Tested w Taylor K2006C kit today:

FC 3ppm
CC .5ppm
pH 7.6
TA 110
CH 130
CYA 50

Is SLAMing worth a shot here? I have the filter on nonstop, changed the sand entirely about 2 weeks ago, and it just won't clear up. I've been using powder shock and tablet chlorine but realize from.this forum I should try liquid.

Experts correct me if I am wrong here but that FC looks low for that CYA. Also, 150# of sand sounds like a pretty small sand filter for a 12k gallon pool, likely need to do a LOT of filter cleaning once you get things killed off with a good FC level

I can see the bottom of my pool!! First time since we bought this house months ago. So glad I found this forum, you all were very helpful. Going to keep going until it sparkles, our sand filter is taking its time...

You have a very small sand filter it appears so it will be slow. When time comes, a larger sand filter or a cartridge filter will better serve your needs.
