I am plannin to SLAM the pool this weekend after last use and putting in Jacks magic today.
Can I shock the pool using the Salt generator increasing production to 100%? My other option is I have shock “proteam power 73” and can put in 3 bags or 6lbs for 30,000 gallons.

From there I will wait until chlorine drops to add Polyquat 60.

Last question is my CYA is 37. I’ve read it should be 70-80 for salt but there is a lot of varying opinions so I kept it around 50 for the first season. With new pool/new plaster I have been chasing the PH levels daily by adding acid. I am thinking of increasing the CYA level before closing. Is this needed at this point or should I wait until opening? What level should I target? My akalinity is at 80.

Last questio, should I add anything more when closing? Cover goes on next Friday.

No you can't "SLAM" the pool with the SWG, it adds the FC much too slowly. Ideally you should be using liquid chlorine to follow the SLAM Process process (it is not a 1 time addition of chlorine).
You could use the Cal-Hypo if your CH is not already too high.

How did you get a CYA of 37ppm? What test kit are you using?
There is no reason to increase the CYA before closing.

Thanks. The CYA level was from a pool store testing system. I figure it is close since my last reading with a Taylor test kit was about 50 and I did have to drain a lot of water due to rain since.

My CH is at 300 so I think I am okay. Will reread the SLAM process on the pool school.

First time closing so bit nervous. I’m putting on a mesh safety cover from anchor industries. Just worried about opening green.
