Closing with a High Water Table

Hello!

This is my second year closing. I have a high water table and had to install a new liner at the start of the season. I also installed a new sump pump to make sure the new liner does not float.

I heard I am now supposed to keep my water level high to ensure the liner does not float again. It shouldn’t with the pump but just to be safe?

Looking for confirmation on that before moving forward.

Thank you!!

I would keep the water level below the skimmer mouth.

What is the difference between that and your "normal level"? 6 inches to a foot? Exposing that much more of a liner should not make a difference in your liner floating.

If it does you have a serious ground water problem that should be handled.

Yea so that’s what I did last year. I had the water level below the skimmers and the liner floated. So I had a sump pump installed on the pool to fix that. So I’m not THAT worried about it. But I guess I will keep it below the skimmer but not a lot maybe an inch or two.

You in NJ?

If we have a wet winter you will need to drain your pool during the winter to keep the water level below the skimmer. You have a pump to do that?

yup, NJ. That makes sense I guess. I was trying to see if there was a way to do both and not worry too much about it but that might not be possible.
Not until you see how your new sump pump helps.
