Closing pool in alabama

I live in central Alabama where it can get 18 degrees or 80 degrees during the winter.I will be away from home Jan thru March.I have a inground salt system pool and no one to look after it.What do I do?

Do you have a cover to use over the pool while you're away? If so, I would take the FC up to SLAM level with bleach (based on your CYA level) turn the SWG off and cover it. The cold water will extend the life of the FC enormously... you very well might come back to find a little FC still in the water.

We live in south Alabama and winterize our pool and it's always clear when we open it.

Just follow the winterizing procedure found on here and cover it with an opaque solid cover and it'll be fine.

I disconnect the equipment, blow out the lines, drain all the equipment, cover it all up and forget about it until about the end of March or April.

Thanks for the response,I did not mention it is a vinyl liner inground 18X36 pool.Where are the directions for winterizing?
