Clogged return jet, inground pool.

I was closing my pool recently and discovered I have a clogged return jet, after the pumps and sand filter. Upon further examination, it appears an object has worked its way through my pipe and is located approximately 20 feet from the eyeball fitting in the pool. Please see link below for picture. I have an inground pool with a sandfilter, I have no clue how this could happen. It is also unclear to me what the object is. I am wondering if this is possible to remove without digging the pipe up? Any suggestions and theories how this could happen would greatly be appreciated.

So which side did you use to take the pictures? What I would do is open both sides of the pipe that is clogged. I am not sure how you will do it on the equipment side but you know your equipment so might be able to figure something out. I would then use a snake to see if you can move it this way or that. It looks like netting of some sort. I wonder if you can "grab" it with something? WAIT............is it duct tape??? Have you had any work done around the pool that involved duct tape?

As you can see I type as I think......as I do things pop up that I just throw out there to see what sticks. My poor husband will even tell you that some of them even work  LOL

Let us know what you find out as you mess with it. I might have more wild ideas as you work with it.
