Clips on pool coping

Hello,

I have a 24' Radiant semi inground pool. I clad the exterior wall of the pool with a stone paver veneer. I am now getting ready to place the stone capstone on top, and the coping clips disrupt the level surface.

Can I just remove the clips? Or do the clips have another function besides concealing the gap between the panel walls?

Any guidance much appreciated!

If you take the clip off could water go down between the line and wall?

The clip just seems to be there to hide the connection between the panels. Water can easily get in there, clip or no clip. I could easily caulk it.

An angle grinder and a diamond blade could easliy cove out a spot on the bottom of your paver so the clip would recess.
