Cleaning pool after excavating for retaining wall.

Wasn't sure about the best forum to ask this in. Just had our pool water sparkling clean after doing a SLAM a couple weeks ago. We had a wood timber retaining wall that the previous owner put in long before we bought the house. The wall has been in bad shape for the last couple of years and this year it really started bowing. I decided now was the best time as any with good weather in the forecast free of rain to remove the old wall and install Keystone block retaining wall. Problem is I only have a mesh safety cover that I recently ordered and has not been installed yet. I also didn't want to have a bunch of dirt stuck in the cover either.

So I left the pool uncovered and figured I would clean it later. The water temp is also still too warm to close the pool yet. Needless to say with all of the digging I did there is a bunch of dirt in the pool. I have been keeping an eye on the chlorine level and also keeping the filter running 24/7 along with the Nautilus Plus. Is there anything else I should be doing or keep doing what I am doing?

Here is a pic of the pool and retaining wall before:

Your filter will eventually get that cleaned up, but sand filters seem to take the longest.

Monitor your filter pressure and backwash when it has risen 20-25% over clean baseline. Keep an eye on water level if you have to backwash a few times, so you'll probably need to add a bit now and then.

You can add a little DE to your filter although each time you backwash it will be washed out and if you want to have it in there again you'll need to replace it.
