Seems to be conflicting information on what can and cannot be used to clean limestone. My coping and hot tub and water wall are all white limestone. Panel has been down for about a week. Hopefullly repaired today. I am seeing some calcium buildup. Other than just scrapping it off with a paint scraper (what I have used before) what is a better solution? Something to spray on the limestone to clean it and soften the calcium so I can more easily remove it. Thanks.

Limestone will be dissolved by acid. So you cannot use acid. The only viable method to remove the scale is a mechanical means, like you have done. Using limestone in areas that pool water can splash or at the water line is not the best for future maintenance issues.
