Our pool was plastered and finished with Stonescapes Mini in September. I’ve taken great care with brushing and we also have a Pentair Prowler920. A couple months after install the Prowler is still picking up a significant amount of the Stonescapes pebbles each and every time I run it. Is this normal? I would have assumed after a few months of brushing and vacuum the ‘shedding’ would have been reduced significantly. Pics are of the basket and below the basket after one session this morning. Everything was totally clean before.

KC,

I doubt that your cleaner is causing the pebbles to come loose, it just picks up what is there.

I suspect that brushing is causing more pebbles to loosen than the cleaner.

Not saying it is correct, but I have never 'brushed" my pool except the areas that my cleaner can't get to, like the steps.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hmmm… not sure now. It picks up a considerable amount of pebbles even on days when I run the cleaner and haven’t brushed since the last time it ran.
I understand pebbles come loose for a little while after install, just not sure what is normal.

My pool is 12 years old … the cleaner still picks up pebbles here and there. It’s just how aggregate pool surfaces are. Yours is fine.

It's normal for new pebble finishes like Stonescapes Mini to shed small particles for a few months, especially during the curing period. The shedding should reduce over time. If it's still significant after a few months, it could be due to incomplete curing or improper compaction. If it continues, consider having the installer check the surface.
