Cleaner not running on automated schedule

I have a new cleaner (two months old) that has been doing a great job. About three or four days ago, I noticed it was not running during the scheduled time (I have an Easy Touch pool/spa control system and use the Pentair ScreenLogic app to create/adjust settings). The pool pump is set up in the same fashion and is running perfectly.

I’ve deleted and rescheduled the cleaner circuit schedule, this did not solve the problem. I’ve hit the reset button on the outside panel, this didn’t solve the problem. I’ve also tried to manually turn on the pump via the outside panel and this didn’t do anything. Also changed the egg timer for the cleaner to 0 minutes. I’ve gone outside and it seems the cleaner pump does try to turn on but for a few seconds then quickly turns off.

Any suggestions for other troubleshooting steps?

Welcome to TFP.

Show us pictures of your equipment pad and cleaner pump.

If you have a multimeter and know how to use it then check voltage across L1 and L2 at the cleaner pump.

Note that the cleaner has a 5 minute delay after you manually turn it on before the pump starts. That delay is normal.

ajw22, thank you the reply. Attached are the requested photos…let me know if there are any other requests or info needed.IMG_1284.jpegIMG_1286.jpegIMG_1285.jpegIMG_1283.jpeg

ajw22,

I just realized I didn't address the other two pieces to your response. I don't have a multimeter but sounds like I will be getting one soon. Secondly, I'm familiar with the 5 minute delay feature and have manually cancelled it and let the five minutes surpass for it to turn off; neither way fixed the issue.

Using your multimeter will let you diagnose if the problem is in the EasyTouch or the pump.

I can understand if the pump is not working properly but the EasyTouch, I’m not quite sure because the pool pump is working on schedule perfectly. Would you agree that it is more likely the pump rather than the EasyTouch panel? Thanks again!

Pool pump and cleaner pump are controlled differently on the EasyTouch. It could be a problem with the cleaner relay in the EasyTouch.

I wanted to close this out for the community. Come to find out, the issue wasn't with the EasyTouch and everything was working as it should be on schedule. The cleaner was not functioning because the capacitor in the pump had gone bad. The give away was being outside at the time the cleaner was scheduled to run and hearing the pump turn on but seeing no action. The pump itself was hot to the touch (hotter than usual as if there was electrical heat making it hotter than usual) and almost a burning smell. It's an easy, inexpensive fix but two things to note; one, when removing the old capacitor, make sure you properly discharge it and two, make note of the dimensions of the original capacitor so that when you buy the replacement, it fits in the original housing compartment. Thank you
