CircuPool SmartFlo® Variable Speed Pool Pump - 3.0 THP

Pool lube added on the 3 way lid and stem valves, fittings, and pump lid o-rings. I used clear primer to avoid purple drips (same primer but no color). I added some hot glue last night to all connections and it still didn't work.

I read about a plastic bag test so I'll try that when I get home from work, in addition to picking up a bladder nozzle for the skimmer hose fill idea.

I glanced at the pool level this morning before work and it was the same as yesterday. I'll look again when I get home too.

Good update. Very curious about pre-filling that suction line with water in advance to starting the pump to see if that helps. I also thought about the potential for something to be in the impeller, but the likelihood of that happening in a brand new pump seems very low unless something got sucked in there on the initial start-up after you connected the plumbing to the new pump. Doubtful that's an issue, but you could reach in there to see if you feel anything around the impeller.

I was hoping you could just insert the garden hose into the skimmer and if needed, wrap a rag around it to help force water to the pad from the skimmer. That way once you see the suction line is full with water, another person could pull it out quickly when you turn on the pump. But if you think a bladder is needed to force the water up the line that is understandable.

I got nobody to help!! There are dead worms in the skimmer so my wife won't do it hah

The mystery continues....turned the pump on doing nothing but filling strainer with water and it worked.
Don't touch anything now. Walk away very softly and allow it to keep going. Ha ha.

That was odd though. You'll have ot let us know if it holds prime when the pump finally goes off later.

My timer shut it off 😂😂

I turned it on and it came on again with no issues. Tested my luck to make sure timer would work turning it on and it did fine. Really odd but it even primes on the lowest setting now.

Now, off to Leslie's to get chemicals! 😆🤪

Thanks for the assistance on this as I was sitting here going a little nuts. Wife even came out and said good job you fixed it (even I won't take credit for this so my response was I didn't do anything, not sure what happened).

Smart man. If it was to happen again, you'd be expected to repeat the unknown. :ROFLMAO:

System acting up again... Sigh

It loses prime now unless on the highest setting and makes a rattling noise on every setting.

Video on youtube since site says its too large::

That almost sounds like a mechanical issue with the pump, not anything related to a water sound specifically. This particular pump has been a nightmare for you and perhaps this is why. Maybe a lemon. Let's ask @JamesW for another opinion though based on this video.

I have the 2HP version of this pump and was having a problem with getting full prime. I checked every single union and drain plug. At one point I thought I had it figured out as I was able to get one of the unions tighter and it primed. But the air gradually built back up in the strainer pot. It finally came down to the thumb screw on the 3-way valve on the inlet. Though that probably isn't your issue, it's worth checking.
I do notice the pump does sound like it rattles a little, but in my case I think it's the plastics on it vibrating a little; make sure it's bolted down tight to the pad. It has been in service for about a year now and has done well.

I actually contacted Circupool support and sent them the video. The rep had a service tech and manager review and said it shouldn't be doing this, especially for a brand new pump. They're sending me a replacement.

I checked the thumb screw and made sure o ring was on and seated. No issues there. Everything is tight and no leaks so it seems like it's the pump.
