Here I was, a happy boy with his happy toy, ready to take on the new world of SWG….

I installed my new Core Control 55 by circupool today. All in all a simple install procedure. Chop some PVC, throw a couple of tapcons in the wall, hang the control unit, and wire the sucker into the pump circuit. Under 30 minutes if you have tools at hand. But then…

The unit won’t talk! I turn the pump circuit on, and my pump hums but I can’t get any indicator lights out of the SWG control. I DO get some sign of life, as the wifi brick sits there and flashes (quickly at first, and then more slowly after a minute or two), so something is working. Looks like the salt cell works too because the cell is making little hazy bubbles like crazy, and the bubbles stop when I unplug the cell cable from the control board. Pull out my amateur sparky toolkit and lo and behold I do have 240V going into the unit at the entry terminal block under the user service panel. The instructions say the unit is 120-240V auto-detecting, so I don’t think there’s anything else to do.

But no LED lights. No control ability. I can’t find the unit on Bluetooth, and the connection steps in the user manual and the app are a total non-starter. I usually resist buying new products and I hate to imply there’s something wrong, but it sure seems like this one is DOA.

For reference my units build date is Dec. 2024 and batch #3019077. I’ll call support tomorrow and see what they can tell me. Support telephone line closed too early for me today. Will report back. Hopefully before I leave the country on Sunday.

Sorry man, being among the first to install the fancy new model has its challanges to go along with its rewards.

TIA for keeping us posted. Circupool has taken good care of many many members, so there is no reason to believe it's going to change today.

So I went into this thinking “hmm, its almost like the front panel didn’t get plugged in”. After talking with circupool support (A+ American based tech support that knows the product), they authorized me to open up the unit and check the ribbon cable between the main PCB and the front panel PCB, which holds the LEDs, touch buttons, and Bluetooth module.

Taking the unit apart involves removing the back panel over the PSU and taking all the housing screws out of along the perimeter. Then it just splits in two. I thought the unit was actually fairly well built. The PCB circuitry is sealed inside an enclosure separate from the PSU. Lo and behold, the ribbon cable between the two PCBs was clearly disconnected. Hard to say whether it was missed in manufacturing QA or just popped loose in transit shipping. Either way, seems like a fluke occurrence and I’m glad they let me open it up instead of making me ship it back to them for something so simple. I tested it, everything came on line and lit up and I screwed it all back together and hung it on the wall.

Total time was probably 15 minutes, of which 10 were spent at turtle speed because I didn’t want to accidentally damage something and I was otherwise curiously taking notes and critiques to pass back to tech support. I was leery of buying a new product, from a company I hadn’t dealt with before, and buying a premium product when I could get by with something more simple. Needless to say, never underestimate the marketing power of customer service. Problems pop up in life. If this is how they treat me every time, I will buy and recommend them.

Time will tell how the unit holds up, but I’m pretty happy with my purchase so far.

I'd say 95% having read a bazillion testimonials here. You can't please all of the people all of the time. You just can't. Some are double or triple unlucky with multiple duds, others have an issue that's not really their or CP/DSPs fault. But the overwhelming majority report quick and happy outcomes.

Also, when I was originally talking to them about the RJ + series, they told me that the “10 psi” limitation sticker referenced on our wiki page is no longer applicable. I told him I had a paramount IFCS that called for 17-24 psi backpressure and they told me not to worry about it. I can’t update the wiki page, but that needs to be done.
