Cinderblock Steps Question

The corner edges on my cinderblock steps seem to be chipping and causing sharp edges to rub against the vinyl liner. The builders put foam on the steps but I’m wondering if they should have put some type of coping over the edge to keep this from happening. The pool is only on its second season and i can visible wear to the liner. There isn’t a hole yet but I am certain there will be at some point soon. The liner is textured so I’m not sure if that will affect its ability to be patched. Is this something I should address now or wait until it is fully torn? I attached pics of the steps for reference. Thanks!

Not much you can do after the fact. Those c-block edges should have been chamfered (45º angle) or rounded (filleted) and I would have had PVC corner trim installed on all inside corners to avoid a hard 90º on the walls. But yeah, those sharp edges are going to take a beating and cause excess liner wear.

Just keep this in mind if you are still there when a liner replacement is needed. Have all the sharp corners redone.

I realize it would not look ideal, but couldn't you use RH Adhesives HH-66 and a roll of thick 6" vinyl to add a rollover step edge? There would be a raised seem on both sides, but is there something wrong with the concept? I've used the same to repair inflatable paddleboards. If the liner were punctured, the step edge would both be thicker to avoid a full penetration for a long time and also seal the hole from leaking.

Then when you replace the liner, make the edge changes noted by Matt.
