You can use trichlor in a vinyl pool. If you are using a floating dispenser, you want to be sure it does not sit right over a step as it may damage the liner.

Glass filter update; It's functioning fabulously. By maintaining appropriate levels of Jack's Magic Pink Stuff, using an alternate, filtered, water source, and the glass filter media, it's relatively iron free. One thing operational wise, filtration pressure is higher then standard sand, with sand normal op pressure was 10 psi, with glass it's 12 psi.

What a ride you have been on so far..............thanks for posting this as others will be able to learn from you. I hope the glass keeps working for you! Interesting that is holds a higher psi than the sand did.

Question about TA, I saw something on the internet about getting "true total alkalinity", by subtracting 1/3 of your CYA measurement from your TA reading. Which should I be using, my test kit measurement or the math?

Poolmath handles that. Use the TA from your test kit.
