Chlorine pool with higher salt level

So I have read around some on this topic..... but still a little unclear. I have been using the TFP method since the pool was new (about 3 years). Haven't had many issues at all.... I noticed the water tasting a bit salty so I ordered a Taylor K-1766 salt test kit. I took the reading at it was 2400ppm. Fill water is less then 200ppm. When I started with TFP I was just buying bleach from Sams Club.... think it was running around 6% then dropped to 5.8% or something like that. We got a new pool store in town that was selling 10.9% liquid chlorine at a good price. So earlier this summer I started using the 10.9% chlorine. CYA was a bit low early in the season... maybe around 35. I now have it up to about 45-50. Its been very hot here in TX and the pool water is around 94 degrees. So swimming has not been on top of the list for the kids or myself. I run a Stenner pump with a 15 gallon tank. I put about 10gallons of the 10.9% chlorine at a time.... pool was taking up most of that in about 2 - 3 weeks roughly. I know the higher percent of chlorine will add more salt.... but is there any issue having the pool at 2400 and probably going to keep climbing over summer.... what would be a "normal" salt level in a chlorine pool?

Salt levels up to 4500 ppm are fine. After that it can begin being corrosive.

Go check out Effects of Adding Chemicals down at the bottom of poolmath. It'll show you how much salt a certain quantity of a certain strength bleach will leave behind. Hint: it's more than the FC it added.

There is no normal. Even if it started with absolutely zero salt in it on fillup, as soon as someone added bleach or trichlor or dichlor or even Cal-hypo, it would start climbing.

A lot of people like the feel of saltwater pools.
