Chlorine discrepancy?

Just got TF 100 kit. Daily test shows 5-10 chlorine with color nearer 10. When tested with titration FC only shows 5. Total tests: FC 5, CC 0, CA 600, CYA 80,TA 110,PH 7.6, TDS 1500. Las Vegas water starts at CA 290, so hard to keep it down with summer evaporation. I see that with CYA of 80, I should keep FC at Min of 6 with Target of 9-11. should I only rely on titration for an accurate FC reading? Used TDS meter that I use to check my RO system for TDS reading. Planning on draining pool this coming spring for kool deck and light repair. When refilled I will be checking on RO treatment for pool to keep CA down.

S,

The color match test is not all that accurate.. I never use mine for anything.

The FAS-DPD test is very accurate and that is the one to believe..

Please do us a favor when you list your tests, please use the following format:

FC
CC
pH
TA
CH (Not CA)
CYA
Salt if a SWCG pool

Thanks,

Jim R.

The color block is just to tell you about how much chlorine you have. Here is how I use it, fill and add the 5 drops, shake, if it is real yellow, I'm fine. Don't really care about the number, just that it is really yellow.
Good for daily checks once you figure out your normal chlorine loss. Use the drop test for the most accurate measurements.
