Changing sand

I'm coming up on my 3rd season with the pool, from when i brought the house, and I don't know when the last time the sand has been replaced in the filter, if ever. I have had no issues with the water quality and was actually told that if everything is fine then don't worry about changing the sand. Just looking for some feedback. Thanks

A backwash spreads flow out thru the entire sand bed and isn't forceful enough to always get every thing out of the sand. It also pressurizes the entire filter body and sand which can work to hold dirt in the sand.

A deep clean will change the way the moving water cleans the sand and is done with the housing under no pressure. Give a deep clean a try some day even after a long back wash you will still get a lot of dirty water that comes out of your filter.
