Changing over from single speed to VS is there a way without breaking the bank?

Hello,
Is there anyone knowledgeable in pool equipment repair that could give me (a newbie to the forum but fairly handy) any advice?
Our in ground pool pump died and I just learned that the only option now is to go to a variable speed pump. Unfortunately, our control unit is not compatible as it is a dinosaur so my only option (I am told) is to use the existing control unit for everything but the pump and then go to the pump to manually change speed for things like using the jacuzzi or spend a few thousand updating all of the controls.
Anyone know enough to point me in the right direction I heard Jandy has the only option with Wifi pump control but they are branded to certain "in store only" chains who sell them for twice anything similar and you still have to buy the wifi adaptor. Any and all input would be much appreciated!

What is your existing equipment? That's where we start.

Two speed pumps have been virtually ignored as a solution to meet new DOE regulations.
They can be run on a 2-speed relay (if system is automated) or dual mechanical timers. Added bonus- no electronics.

Sorry, I should have thought of that. 13,000 gallon pool with (currently) a 1.5 HP single speed Pentair pump. Currently has a sta-rite cartridge filter. Pool has attached jacuzzi and all valves, heater, pump, etc... Controlled by Aqualink RS4. What I would like is to replace with something I can control remotely instead of having to change the pump speed manually when I use jacuzzi but not shell out 2K plus to change my entire automation on top of the $$$ for the new pump. Jandy is the only one that I can find with a wifi interface module but they are in a monopoly with Pinch a penny here so they got for 2X every other VS pump. Please let me know if I left anything out. Thank you all for any and all thoughts!

Best guess, a Pentair Whisperflow? A V-Green 2.7 motor with an automation adapter will work. An RS4 will not likely have the room to install a 2-speed relay needed to control a 2-speed motor.
If you truly want wifi control, this is the least expensive system available. It would also control the V-Green motor and all other VSPs.

Waterway - Control System, Waterway Oasis Pool Control, w/ WiFi - 770-1004-PSW

I've installed about 15 of them over the past 6 or six years. Had 1 issue recently. The control panel went bad. No other issues have come up.
