dmullen,

Can you post a pic of the SWG? I think I know which SWG you are talking about. You may be able to use both together but I would like to see a pic to help with the hook up.

Here are the pics of the two pumps from Amazon. I wil take more when I get home.

that would be easy
hook up the hose from the return of the sand filter to where the 90 on the cartridge filters connects to the flow meter of the SWG. the fittings on the hoses should be identical.

does the pump have a seperate on off control from the SWG? Im not sure if it does. you may have to un wire it so it wont run while the SWG is on.

Exactly!!!

Hi again fellow intex owners,

For those of tou that use the ladder that comes with the intex pools.
Do you remove it every night or use a ladder lock?
The wife is pregnant and I cant see her lugging the ladder in and out of our pool if im stuck at work so I was thinking about getting or making a good ladder lock that my 6 and 9 yr olds wont be able to get thru. I figured some of you (if not all)may have some great ideas!

Thanks,
PNB

Well I think we will be getting this ladder.

Any other options ? Its kinda on the pricey side but worth it in the long run. Eventually I will be building a deck but not for a year or 2 gotta lotta prep work.

Also any good deals out there for the intex sand filter?

I have a hayward DE filter but no pump. The intex sand filter hooks up easier from what I've read so I think I will ditch the hayward filter and get the sand filter.

I missed that 1. Its obviously a good value. I think I will grab that 1 and save 100-150 bucks. Thanks for the link.
I doubt I will ever get a bigger pool maybe deeper but my little piece of the world is very little lol. Does any one know if that comes with the shutoff plungers and attachment s?

Is a 2hp pump to much for my 15x4 ? I had a chance to grab 1 very cheap but let it go cause I figured it was way overkill.

Im in the process of digging and finishing my pool area but when Im done I will post pics. My pool is up but the area around it needed a lot of work Ive been moving dirt every afternoon after work. But my hard work will pay off when the wife sees it.

Greetings! Newbie here.

I do not have an actual Intex pool, but only my "liner" is really all that different:

pool_02.jpg

... and I do plan to get an Intex 1600 sand filter in the near future.

For the most part, my "pool" is actually a therapeutic device for relieving some of my back troubles, but my grandchildren did take their first dips here!

I posted here today mostly to show this as a simple and inexpensive way to make a vacuum cleaner for use with an Intex pool having tapered outlet/inlet ports:

pool_03.jpg

That hose fits snugly into the inlet/outlet ports, and moving it to the bottom makes it into a vacuum wand ...

... and then whenever I have heavy sand or dirt to get rid of, I just use the wand as a siphon and dump directly onto the ground.

Oh, and here was my own first-ever pool experience back in the 1950s:

So I have been hunting but cant get an answer to 1 question.

Does the 1600Gph sand filter come with the conversion for the plungers to be hooked up to the intex pools that arent set up for it.

yes it does. It comes with the plungers and the adapters for the pools that don't have the larger intake and returns. (Pools under 16')

I know I'm alittle late in posting this, but I got my pool up a few weeks ago. Its a blue Intex 16' x 48" metal frame pool. We're on our 4th year with it. It has been the best pool! We used to have a metal wall AG pool but it burst open and was destroyed many years ago so we decided to do something less expensive. We have not even had a single leak with the pool. We take it down every winter and store it in a shed. The only problem has been the cheap Intex Cartridge Pumps! We've went three! Our first was an 800 gph and it went out at the beginning of the 2nd year. We upgrading to the 1000gph and it went out this year (2 seasons of use basically). So for the past 2 weeks the pool has been up, we're having to use an old 530 gph pump from an easy set pool... the water flow it terrible! I ordered the 14" 1600gph Sand Filter Pump and its supposed to be in on the 15th. These pools are amazing and if you've been debating, GET IT! Best investment ever. Just make sure you upgrade the pump! We're finally retiring our pool after this season and getting the Ultra Frame 24' x 52". Does anyone know how often I should backwash my sand filter also? its a 55Ib filter...

Thanks Carter, As far as I know the sand filter has a pressure gauge and when the pressure gets low you backwash.

I cant wait to get my 1600 GPH sand filter Ive had enough of this cartridge filter Crud. I will also be looking into hooking a vac up to the sand filter rather than the hos vac these come with. I have what seems to be a newer model than the 1 that came with my 1st 15 ft intex and it works great I just dont like setting it up and adding cold water to the pool at the same time.

Within the next week or 2 I should be getting the materials to start making my pool area very nice. I cant wait , I got big plans for this small area.

Edit : Also carter since youve put your away for a few winters , Whats your method for take down and storage ?

Has anyone put mulch around a easy set? I just set one up and I haven't found a answer yet. I'm not sure if it would hurt the liner or not.

I was thinking about that earlier this season when I was trying to stop the water that was getting splashed out of the pool to stop puddling up around the legs.

If I was going to do it I would put some of that black plastic edging around the whole pool to keep the mulch from working its way under the pool. But I dont know if the chems in the mulch would hurt the liner.

Mine is very simple, I drain the pool, set it in the sun to dry for a few hours, then drain the pump. I put the poles in the original box (I still have it lol) I put all of the pins in a plastic bag and put them with the pump. I put the pool liner in a 4ft plastic kiddie pool and put everything in my storage shed. I live in an urban area so I don't really have problems with critters getting at my pool.... but sometimes the cockroaches like to poop in my liner but that's about it. Oh and if anyone was wondering, I have not a single hint of rust on my frame. Looks brand new. The only problem I've had is the cheap plastic clips that hold the frame together keep breaking. I would order a new box of them but this is the last year I'm using this pool.

I have mulch on one side of my easy set and I dont see how it could be a problem, heck I weed eat up against it without any problems.

Hey Carter

I am not advising this nor saying its safe so please dont try it, but i bet youve jump off your house a time or two havent ya ;)

Haha.... it's been done...... but believe me... 48inches of water doesn't leave much cushion.... :hammer:

i placed the red mulch around my 16x48 ultra frame pool. kinda dressed it up a little.16866.jpg[/attachment:1oqhpu5p]24630.jpg[/attachment:1oqhpu5p]62019.jpg[/attachment:1oqhpu5p]
