Census Poll on Intex Users

After we got back from our Disney vacation the heat here in South Louisiana is staying in the 90's. So I went to walmart and bought our first inter 20' x 48" ultra frame pool. We are lucky that I have a regulation half court basket ball court in our backyard. So we picked the best spot and we were filling after 30min.. We are planning on getting an inground pool installed as soon as my youngest turn 9.. My wife don't ask :), so we have 2 more years left..

Sofar we love it...! It came with the 1500gph pump I added the salt aystem and sofar except for using shock n swim once my levels are looking great.

We have 2 boys 14 and 7 and I have drilled into their heads "you pee in my pool I pee on you" hey it's what my dad told us and I never did it... I set out a small pail mixed with bleach in the corner of the yard they pee on it...:) hey it works...

Long story short, this site has been a huge help I'd like to see a seasonal pool section.

I'm also working on a fountain to cool the pool off maybe a secondary pump??

Hey what do you folks with the 1600gph sand filter get for pressure readings ? Mine is always just below yellow but still in the green . I tried back washing twice but it stays the same no matter what. So I assume its the average reading.

Hey, I have the 1600gph Sand Filter and my pressure after backwashing is a little over 6psi which is close to the yellow but still in the green. you should be ok if your around there.

This year will be our 2nd season with an Intex Easy Set 16' x 42" AG ring pool. Shall we say last year was a definite learning experience with site prep, leveling, chemicals etc. Pool was somewhat lopsided but still usable. Spent a fortune on chemicals, pump that came with pool was woefully inadequate. Upgraded to the 635T 1500 gph filter pump, well worth the $50, purchased online from Amazon.com. This year, spent more time on site prep with a 4 ft level strapped to a 10' 2x6, made quite a difference. Decided to go with the Intex SWG Model 8110 since everyone seemed to rave about how great they are and how they virtually eliminate the need for chemicals. My problem is after hooking up the SWG, I keep getting the infamous Code 90 for low water flow. I've checked out most of the usual culprits but two friends have looked at the system and think my connections are reversed. My discharge port (high one) hose goes to the filter pump. Filter output hose is fed to the input on the SWG, and the output hose of the SWG back to inlet port (low one) on the pool. All the pictures I've seen online of Intex Easy Set pools seem to have the ports reversed (low one on the right, high one on the left as you look at the pool). I'm attaching a pic so maybe someone can tell me if my current connections are correct, or if I need to reverse the setup. The problem with reversing the setup is the strainer is on the discharge port (high one) so doesn't make sense to me to reverse. Local pool supply stores were little help, as most don't deal with these types of pools. I did order the black plugs to stop water flow if I need to switch hoses, not fun when you're trying to do it with a full pool lol. Really need to get this corrected as I've already added 80 lbs of salt which I know I'll have probably have to replace, good thing salt is cheap lol.

So if anyone can give me a quick fix, I'd appreciate it. As for a separate forum for Intex Pool users, I'm all for it. Would save a bunch of search time on TFP. BTW, super site, look forward to gaining wisdom from other pool users!

Im new to TFP =) and also new having the 2650 intex sand filter so Im hoping someone who has this filter can help me. I just connected everything today and I see on the DVD it says that once the gauge goes onto the yellow you need to backwash...does that mean as soon as its on yellow or do I wait until its at the end of yellow before it hits red? Also after you backwash and have it on filter mode do I put the cap back on or do I leave the hose in? One more thing after we backwah and the pump is doing its job on "filter" what should be the gauge reading? thanks in advance =)

Hey, I have the smaller 1600gph Intex Sandfilter. I usually backwash when I notice the water pressure is very low on the return, but I do believe I heard that you should generally backwash when the psi reading is 10 units over the original reading after backwashing. Like my gauge is usually on about 6psi after I backwash. Your reading will obviously be different because of the size difference though. I'm not sure if this helps but hopefully someone else who is a little more knowledgeable will give you some more advise. Oh and Welcome to TFP!

I have the same setup as CarterJ92 with pretty much the same readings. When my old pump died I was without a filter for about 2 weeks. I didn't have problems with algae due to good water chem, but got a good build of small particles. With the new pump I'd start to lose flow about 10 min into the kids playing into the pool. I'd backwash for a few seconds, rinse and resume filtering with good pressure. I'd have to do this every 10-20 min while the kids were in the pool. After about a week all the little stuff was filtered out and now I haven't had to backwash in over a month and pressure is staying steady. Pool water has been sparkling clear ever since.

Metal frame 24' X 4 feet deep with Intex sand filter pump.

We rent so this is perfect. Putting up and taking down is a pain, but worth it for us.

We got the pool really cheap at the end of the season in 2008 from Walmart online. We had gone one season with a 10 or 12 foot inflatable ring and enjoyed it so much, we went looking for something bigger, so we cleared it with the landlord, and bought the metal frame.

Happy to see a place just for intex pools, hopefully it will get busy here again now that summer is just around the corner. We just bought our first pool and did research all winter looking to find the right one and intex was the one! Now it is up, filled and filter going, now to get the Krystal Clear Saltwater System going. So new to this I'm afraid I will mess it all up lol ugh!

This is hilarious! My kids are 4, 6 and 8 and the boys get to pee on the compost pile since our yard is privacy-fenced. The poor girl has to strip and go inside every time.
