Suggestions to actually clean a cartridge. About to start up pool next week or two....
They are about 10yrs old and still in great physical shape. Just brown; :)
I have always just rinsed off. I tried a tote and pleatco filter wash tabs 2 yrs back. Didn't seem to do anything.

Suggestions for some TSP cleaning solution?
Can it be made to spray and soak then rinse or needs to soak in a bin?
Or just keep rinsing, and don't mess with any chemical cleaner?

thanks all

The Filter Flosser is recommended to really get deep into the pleats. Many here have praised its usefulness over the conventional hose end sprayer.

TSP is best done as an overnight soak. But you need to use REAL TSP, not the fake eco garbage which is nothing more than sodium carbonate. Savogran is a good all-purpose brand. You mix the TSP with bleach and the soak the cartridges clean.

In a pinch you can also use standard dishwashing powder as well. It’s not as effective as TSP, but it dissolves well in water, rinses easily, and doesn’t leave behind any foaming compounds.

Under the section for mildewed deck and siding -

Mildewed Deck and Siding: Remove by washing with solution of 1 cup of TSP dissolved in 3 quarts of warm water and add 1 quart bleach.

1:12:4 mixture of TSP:WATER:BLEACH

So depending on the size of your cartridges and the container you plan to soak them in, you may need a lot of TSP.

Also note the warning well - keep TSP away from anything made out of aluminum. Aluminum will dissolve in very caustic solutions.
