For those that are considering switching to salt.…
We became new pool owners in April of 2014. That led me to this page trying to learn everything I could about pools. What to do….What not to do….etc. We tried using pucks, powders, and liquid chlorine, but just weren’t happy. There had to be a better way. Then I started reading about salt water chlorine generators. I was sold. Now on to research SWCG’s. Our pool is big, and that limited our options. Cirrcupool had a unit that seemed to fit the bill. The SJ55 advertised a higher chlorine production than most others. (The RJ60 wasnt available yet) So we bought one. Installation was a piece of cake. For 4 years we had chlorine with little to no work. Then we started having chlorine production issues. That saga is documented in this thread.

To make a long story short…. Cirrcupool won’t honor their warranty. Somehow half of the plates in the the cell corroded away, while the other half of the plates looks brand new. But somehow it’s my fault. Bad water chemistry blah blah blah.
Instead of buying an entire new unit, I decided to buy a new cell from cirrcIpool. One of the pluses of the SJ was it’s high chlorine production. (2.3 pounds per day) The new cell that I received was labeled. (1.8 pounds per day) I called them and asked. I was told that the label doesn’t mean anything, and that the cell is compatible with my unit. IT IS NOT! It physically fits, but doesn’t produce what the old cell did.
With the old cell I could run it on 50% during the summer. New cell I find that I am having to run 75% with an occasional bump to 100% just to keep up. In the short term, this is no big deal, but this cell (that I paid full price for) will wear out much quicker. Cirrcupool is still blaming me and my water.
Just thought I would share.…

I think the cell might be bad 😆
Good Morning, I have been trying to figure out why my FC numbers have been dropping. I did an OCLT....it equals zero. I checked the warning light on the unit....not on. Thought maybe all the rain we have been having was diluting the water. I turned up the CL output, but the FC continued to...
