Penna.
I add a gallon of liquid bleach (10%) to my pool every other day. daily. The next day, the chlorine tests ZERO. The ph is about 7.5, which I guess is OK, and the Alkalinity is 120 which I guess is a bit high. I am getting some algae on the bottom of the pool and steps. Suggestions, please.

How are you testing?
Test Kits Compared

Algae is a symptom of FC being outside the FC/CYA Levels.
You need to know your CYA levels, which you didn't mention. CYA is critical to sustaining FC.

If you have sufficient CYA, then you're either just not adding enough FC for the UV and bather load, or you have algae.

You can likely just move to the SLAM Process now.

I have an Aqua Check tester, that only checks for Chlorine, PH, and Alkalinity. However my test results at the pool store are usually similar but more results. Total alkalinity is 120, ph is 7.5, Total chlorine is 0.3 , Free chlorine is 0.00 total hardness is 275, Cyanuric Acid is 35, Langelier index is 0.00
thats it.

Algae is eating up your chlorine, which was way too low to begin with.

Reggie has you covered with the links.
1. Get a quality test kit
2. While waiting on your test kit to arrive, read up on the SLAM process. Also add 5ppm of FC to your pool daily (probably around 1 gallon of liquid chlorine) to keep the algae at bay.
3. Once your test kit arrives, post up a full set of numbers
4. Begin the SLAM

Assuming you have 21k gallons (or thereabouts), a half gallon of 10% chlorine is adding 2.4 FC per day. I'm losing between 3 and 4 on sunny days a little north of you.

On low loss days your add is barely enough and on the higher loss days, you see zeros after them.
