Can’t get pH to drop

TA is 60. I keep the chlorine levels balanced every day with liquid chlorine. I keep adding the recommended acid, but pool pH stays at 8.2/8.4 regardless.

Any ideas what’s going on? Is this something I should worry about? Vinyl -lined pool, can’t say I noticed any discomfort, but worried it could be causing damage or prone to issues.

What is your FC ?

Do you test after adding, or do you assume you reached target and it's high again tomorrow?

At the end of each day, I add enough free chlorine to bring it back up to 5.

I should definitely test ph after adding acid. I’ve always just assumed I reached target. I will test ph after adding next time and see if it reaches the ideal.

Then tomorrow a couple days from now, you really don't know what happened.

Once you become one with the pool and it behaves as it has been, you can start to assume things. With any whiff of an issue, for any parameter, double check to know. :)

Ph when 8+ will read the same. It may be much higher and require a couple of rounds to get back to the 7s. Lower it 0.4 at a time until you hit a high 7.

The peak season is long over in upstate NY, but 5 may still put you too close to min if there are any whoopsie days left with higher UV.

I asked anout the FC because at 10+ FC the Phay read high and is invalid because of it. File that one away for future knowledge.
