Can't find a "how to" for installing ag pool

I've tried to search, and I see questions about crushed stone, sand, blocks under posts, but I don't see any step-by-step or best practices for installing an above ground pool. Here in Snowflake, Arizona there are exactly ZERO pool installers, so I may have to do it all myself (with some excavation/levelling help from a contractor friend.) Thanks!

Can't find a "how to" for installing ag pool

Hello and Welcome!

For official instructions, you should be able to go to the pool mfg website and download their installation instructions.

Honestly, go to YouTube and type in "above ground pool installation" and watch some videos. They are all pretty much the same steps and it'll give you a good idea of the tasks involved and amount of work required.

There are quite a few threads on this forum about AGP installs and many have good tips. Use the search box on the upper right of each page. If I had more time I would list better info for you.

A couple of suggestions from a diy guy.

Make triple sure your spot is free of plants, roots etc and as close to absolutely level as can be, you will hear this a thousand times but it is very necessary.

Second I did my last dig/build and setup using virgin dirt/vapour barrier/ 2 inches of sand.

Next time I do it I will go virgin dirt/vapour barrier/ 2 inches of sand/ 3/4 inch foam board.

Also be triple extra vigilant kicking your wrinkles out as it fills.

So there really isn't a DIY list here on TFP? I'm surprised. I'll head over to YouTube, I just find that it can take some searching to learn which advice to follow and which to avoid. Just because the guy on YouTube does it that way, doesn't make it the best way.

I expect that I'll be doing crushed stone/sand, now I'll also look into foam board. Pretty dry here in AZ, don't know if vapor barrier is important or not...

Many soft side pools (like Intex with air ring) recommend a tarp like barrier under the pool because many ppl put them right on the grass.
For metal wall pools, a tarp or vapor barrier is not needed. Don't use one.

Pool installation instructions are easily available on the mfg websites. No need for TFP to do a write-up. TFP is not a "how to build/install xxx " Forum. However, there are many threads with tips and pics that are very helpful.
