Hi,

I’ve been attempting to begin the slam process by lowering my ph to 7.2, with muriatic acid 31.45% and it is working, the only problem is the ph within half a day will rise once again to 7.8-8.0. The pool is completely green so I imagine that is having an effect, there is currently no chlorine present, and the TA is at 90. Additionally I only added enough acid to get to 7.2 because i added cynurgic acid in an amount that would bring the ph down to 7.0, but it didnt and my ph only increased more than the days prior lol. My fear is that if i get the ph at 7.2 and start the slam where ph tests become unreliable, my ph will just be at a really high level that prevents the slam from being effective from the get go.

With a TA of 90, you will be fine. Lower the pH to 7.2 and start the SLAM process.

Just lower it to 7.2, then immediately start the SLAM. The longer you go with no chlorine, the longer your SLAM will take in exponential terms.
