Can someone please help me figure out my plumbing?

Hi,

just moved to a new house with in ground pool, spa, and waterfall, the previous owners did not label anything so I am kind of in the dark.

Right now, pressure is 25 psi, Hayward DE filter, return jets are pumping water (not strong flow)

The issue is that there is no suction in the skimmers and I can not figure out the in pool vacuum as far as turning it on via the Jandy valves

I have added some pics, if anyone can help I would be super grateful as I can not wait another 2 weeks for the pool guy

If you need any more info please let me know

817,

There are three inputs to your main pump.. I would assume that the two with the red ball valves are the skimmers and the one with the union is from the main drain.

The black Jandy valve on the pump input is how you select the Spa mode.. If you rotate that valve 180 degrees you will shut off the input from the pool and select the input from the spa drain.

Water leaves your main pump and goes to a Multi-Port Valve (MPV) where it would normally be sent to the DE filter. Out of the filter and through your tab feeder and to Return Jandy valve. This valve must be turned 180 degrees to select the Spa mode. As it is in the pics, the water then returns to the pool or water features as selected by your blue ball valves.

I assume the other pump is for your spa jets. But it could be for a big waterfall..

You just need to play with it and see what does what..

I don't see any vacuum input, but not all pools are built the same. Why do you thing you have a vacuum input?

Thanks,

Jim R.

817,

I suspect your main problem is that your filter is seriously dirty and needs to be cleaned or backwashed. If you have never opened the filter, then I suggest that you open and clean the filter, then reassemble, add more DE.. If you know for a fact that the filter has been recently opened and cleaned, then you need to backwash the filter and then add more DE.

I would think your filter pressure should be about 10 to 15 lbs. when clean.

Thanks,

You are awesome, thank you for your quick response and the info.

Ok so I have a Letro Legend 2 pool cleaner, it gets connected in the pool through one of the return jets, which is now making me think the vac I have is pressure ran and not via suction, does that sound right?

Assuming it is a pressure vac, what valves would I need to adjust to get it to operate assuming the filter is clean, or just leave it as is?

I will definitely open up the filter as I doubt the previous owners ever did so, I have backwashed a few times now tho.

G,

You can only backwash a few times and then you have to open and clean the filter..

Sounds like you have a pressure cleaner if you connect it to a return.. Just shut off one blue ball valve at a time and see what quits working.. There is no way we can tell you exactly how your pool is plumbed, we just know how things are generally plumbed.. But all pools are different and you will have to experiment to see what is what.

I suggest that you get one of these robots..

Thanks,

Jim R.
