Can Omnilogic control a Jandy VSD pump

I Don't think that the Jandy FloPro VS will communicate with a Hayward prologic. If someone says it will, can they provide actual instructions?

As I noted in a previous post, the pump can be controlled by remote contact closures (such as a switch or relay).

For non Jandy automation, such as Hayward, you can use available relays to operate the pump.

So, there is a way for Hayward to control the pump. Whether you want to consider it communication or not is subjective.

For ProLogic, you would set the pump type as two speed and use two relays to turn the pump on and off.

It's not communication in the same way as the automation being told that the pump is variable speed and being able to control the speeds.

Hi James…I just signed up today so I could ask you a question about something similar to the above post. I have an Omnilogic controller and I bought a Jandy VSD 2.0 pump. The controller came with a little controller that is extremely complicated. Do you know if the Omnilogic can control my Jandy pump?

Hi Trouble Free Family …I’m Mike from Texas .I have a 4 year old OmniLogic controller and bought a Jandy VS pump from my pool builder friend and the JEP controller is not user friendly ( to me). I saw an old thread on here saying that the Hayward controller will talk to Jandy pumps. Do you guys know which 4 wires go where in the OmniLogic? I’m attaching a pic of the pump connections.

My friend is a pool builder and he had never used it. I’m guessing it’s 5-6 years old.

It is 11 years old.

I do not think that it can be controlled by your system.

I had no idea it was that old. It was still in the box. Do you know if I can jumper those pins to make it run as a single speed pump?

Maybe this will work, but I don't know if it applies to your pump, so maybe a risk.

I had the same problem last week, you need to make a jumper as per the troubleshooting guide from the manual. You can cut about 5-6 inches of the RS-485 cable and open the cover of the pump and remove the existing RS-485 cables. As per the manual jump pins 1 to 3 and 2 to 4 once you finish with the connection turn on the pump, if the pump starts to work then you know there is an issue with the RS-485 connection.

JEP-R Controller | Jandy

The JEP-R controller has two timed speeds/8 speeds total and can be rotated 180° on the pump or removed for remote mounting.

The motor in this picture is a Century V-Green 2.7 that Jandy originally used on their VSP. While the Hayward will not communicate with it, it can be set up to use relay inputs along with the ePump controller to run it. A bit complicated, to be sure, but it will work.

How much did you pay for this 11 year old used pump?

You can see where it was leaking from the trail of calcium carbonate precipitate.



If it was brand new in the box, where did all of this dirt come from?

That control works similar to Pentair IntelliComm2 for the Intelliflow or the V-Green automation adapter (which neither Jandy nor Century would ever tell me would work with the motors on a Jandy pump).

More complicated than the Pentair or Century controller, the manual is 60 pages. Page 9 and 10, paragraphs 2.8 - 2.10 and Figure 5 of the attached manual explain the hook up. Open relays are needed. After getting the wiring hooked up speeds they control are set in the ePump Control. Also attached an "ePump Simulator" which allows virtual tryout of the controller.
