Can my pump be too big for pool

I have an above ground that holds 15233 gallons. My other half hooked up a 3hp pump. We have a sand filter. My water is green. I have tested my chemicals and my levels are in range. I am wondering if my pump is too big.

I doubt that the size of your pump has anything to do with your pool being green...

Is your 3 HP pump a VS pump, or a single speed pump?

Most pools turn green because the owner has not kept the CYA and the FC (Chlorine) in the proper relationship.

Once it turns green the normal FC levels will never turn the pool blue again.

How do you currently sanitize your pool??
