Can I bury PVC pipe to connect pool to equipment? (re: above-ground pool)

My pool is about 11 feet from the equipment pad and instead of using long flexible hose, my installer said I could purchase PVC pipe.

He said I could buy PVC pipe and bury it only 4" or so under the ground.

Does that sound correct? I like the idea of burying the PVC pipe so the pool and equipment pad are seperated.

I've had the return and suction line buried for 11 years now. Much nicer. Only thing I'd check into is your ground freezing situation in PA.

Yes. Use the search box in the blue band across the top for "bury PVC" and you'll find some older threads.

If I was going to do it, I'd use unions so I could disconnect it completely in the winter and blow the lines out.

What concerns do you have about it? That's pretty much how irrigation systems are installed. I suppose you get hard freezes there, so you'll want to empty it in the winter. Otherwise, the only downside I see is that you have to do some measuring when you install.

I need to do some research to see what a PVC 'union' is so I can disconnect/blow out the pipes.

Here in the NE that's part of winterizing so what difference does it make where the pipes are. They'll be empty over the winter anyhow.
