Hey everyone! Long-time lurker here, finally stepping into the light for some advice on plumbing a new Calimar 3HP pump. Check out the attached photo of my current setup.

I'm also planning to replace the diverter valve and ball valve. The ball valve has been broken since I bought the house, so I've never been able to open it. Any recommendations on what it does and how to replace it?

Is it okay to use compression fittings on the two vertical suction pipes coming out of the ground? Also, do they make diverter valves with unions for easier future repairs?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey Q and welcome from the shadows !!!

Its not advised.

No but a new diverter valve should last a generation. Maybe two. Lol. The guts are rebuildable, not that you'll need to, and the valve housing is all but indestructible.

Replace the ball valve with a high quality 2-way diverter valve. Jandy Never Lube valves or Pentair would be ideal.
