Did I screw up here. Took the filters out to hose them off and then ate dinner. Not even thinking about the circ pump still running. Likely wad like that for an hour. Did notice all the small Debris in the bottom of the filtet box is now gone. Darn it.

Hopefully not. Big debris would be a problem though

Just raise to about 10ppm with liquid chlorine for now if they wanna soak a minute then proceed with slam level after they get out - until the tub is clear & cc’s are 0.5 or less.
It is safe to get in up to slam level fc but it can be hard on the suits.
The 10ppm will be gone very quickly anyway if its got alot of bather waste to deal with.
You’re not only making up for the previous waste you didn’t dose for but also all that has proliferated since - & things proliferate rapidly in a hot tub.
Once its clear be sure to dose accordingly in the future. As you can see, making up for a deficit is not a fun game.

Just added 9.5FC to see how she handles it and then the slam starts tomorrow.

I'd say the biggest piece I saw was about the size of a penny maybe smaller.

Cya of 35 = 40 for chlorination purposes so slam level is 16ppm

Cya was at 35 so I blasted with 14FC last night. At 9am it wad at 8FC and water is much clearer. Going to keep bringing it up to 14 and see how it goes.

CYA rounds to the 10s. 30 40 50. The scale is logarithmic, you can't guess halfway is 35. Use 40 for your CYA. So SLAM should be at 16.

Good to know. Well I've been doing 14. The first 4hrs it only dropped 1FC so I blasted jt again and I'll do it a few more times. I'll go up to 16 next just to be sure.

Can I expect to see an only 1FC overnight drop with an ozonator? I did about 4 rounds yesterday 2 at 14FC and 2 at 16FC after 12 hours it dropped 4FC. Just brought it up to 16 again to continue slamming but I'm wondering if I'll ever see 1FC

Is your ozonator tied in with a circ pump or a main pump. If circ pump you could set run time to zero overnight. Mine runs 8 hrs overnight and I get 1 to 1.5 drop from last measurement with no usage.

If you notice I didn’t include the 1ppm or less oclt when I mentioned raising to slam due to the fact it can be impractical to accomplish in a spa.
The ozonator will make it even harder to accomplish.

Keep going until crystal clear & cc of 0.5 or less.
If you have the ability to turn your ozonator off to try to get a baseline on your standby losses that would be great.
Of course you would need to know approximately what your standby loss was previously - before the incident, with a clean tub to make any comparison.

Usually if things don’t clear up after a few slam rounds I say just purge,drain & start over.
I think you caught it early enough that you’ll be ok though.
Make it easy for your wife or whoever to dose upon exiting the tub. If I am not around to test & dose I just have my family add 2oz of lc. - that’s close to 8ppm in my tub. It doesn’t happen often that they use it when I am away but it’s enough fc to cover things until my return usually even if it was a heavy bather load.

It cleared right up after the first heavy dose but I wanted to make sure I killed it all off. I'll check CC when I get home. I did about 6 doses.
